This chart confuses me a bit…if my brother wears a size 4 in tennis shoes..what size should his boots be?..please help!
Ashley,
Snowboard boots are going to match the shoe size. We list all of the sizing conversions, particularly the U.S. size and the Mondo Point size so customers can see what U.S. size equates to what Mondo Size. There are many manufacturers of snowboard boots that will only list sizing in Mondo Point sizing. So if your brother is in a size 4, his snowboard boot size in U.S. sizing would be a 4, but in Mondo Point sizing it would equate to a 22.0. I hope this clears up any confusion.

My shoe size is a U.S. 11.5. Is the boot size for the Vans Hi Standard Snowboard Boots 2009 the same as the shoe size?
Chris,
It should be pretty true to shoe size. Initially when you put any new boot on, the padding is thick and will push you right up to the front of the boot. Just remember, if you’re not still growing, ideal fit is toes touching the end (not jammed or curled over). This will allow for the perfect fit once the boot is broken in and the liner has packed out more.
Jenna
my son wears a mens 10 1/2 in sneakers, what size snow boarding boots do i buy
Sue,
Snowboard boots pretty much run true to shoe size. However, some people wear their shoes much looser than they actually should. Does he actually measure at a 10 ½? Is he still growing? If so, he would probably take a 10 ½ or 11. When you get the boot, pull out the liner of the boot and have him try it on. You want about a thumbs width between his toe and the end of the liner. If he’s no longer growing he would probably take a 10 ½ if not a 10. You want his toes touching the end, but not curled over or jammed into the toe of the boot.
Jenna
My sons wear a 7.5 mens and a 9.5 mens in shoes, the boots only come in whole sizes, so if I buy an 8 and a 10 will the boots more than likely fit fine?
Thanks
Sarah,
An 8 and a 10 are likely to fit just fine, especially if they are still growing. That should give them just enough room to grow, without being too big or sloppy.
Jenna
I wear a 44 in sport shoes, european size, which one i need for the forum takedown? a 10,5?
thanks!
Oscar,
Yes, a 44 would be about a size 10 US, however that boot does seem to run on the smaller side. I would probably recommend a 10.5 or 11 in the Forum, but a 10 if you are looking at any other boots.
Jenna
When I was measured at ski barn they told me I was a 6.5 but I was told roxy snowboard boots run small and I should get a 7 is that true? Thank you!
Amanda,
Definitely. I would say Roxy boots run a half size to a full size smaller than most boots. If you are still growing, you may want to consider the 7.5. Keep in mind though, the padding in Roxy boots is usually very thick, so the liner will break in a little, giving you more room.
Jenna
If Roxy boots run small, which other brands do also? I have heard many brands run small which makes it difficult to buy online.
Roger,
Most boots do run true to size, but the Forum boots that we carry from some of the previous years do run on the small side as well. I can understand how it would be confusing to know exactly, but you should be able to buy most of the brands pretty true to shoe size.
Jenna
How can you tell the difference between mens and womens snowboard boots? We have a pair of boots that are size 10 US but we don’t know if they are womens or mens.
Thanks,
Paula
Paula,
The general differences between a men’s and a women’s boot are in the width and the height of the cuff. However, you don’t have anything to compare yours too, so I would look on the inside of the tongue and the bottom of the sole. Most women’s boots will say 10W or actually say women’s if it is one. If it just says 10 chances are it is a men’s. Is it an older boot? Can you read a model name on the tongue? I may be familiar with the model name if you have that, but again if all are you are seeing is 10 and no W or “women’s’” it is probably a men’s.
Jenna
Do DC boa boots run true to size? I wear a size 7.5 shoe.
Ashley,
They should run pretty true to shoe size. I wear a 7.5 shoe and ride in a 7.5 DC boot. Remember, as long as your feet aren’t still growing, ideal fit is toes touching the end, but not jammed. This will allow for the perfect fit once they break in.
Jenna
I was wondering about buying the Forum Throwdown boot. My shoe size is a 9.5, but i still have a little room in the end. Should I buy the 9.5 or the 10. I hear they make them a little smaller. I was also wondering if they didn’t fit, could I return them?
Jeremy,
You can definitely return them if they don’t fit, but hopefully we can get you in the right size this time. Those boots definitely run on the small size, so the 9.5 should be perfect. Remember, a perfect fit if you are not still growing is toes touching the end of the boot, but not crammed into the end. If your feet are still growing, I would probably go with the 10 to make sure you have enough room.
Jenna
Well I think all of these are good opinions but I am an avid snowboard, boarding more than 100-150 times a season, even during summer I make trips to Alaska. Well i wear a 12 shoe and all boots I have ever worn I wear a size smaller so i wear a 12 shoe but an 11 boot. this may differ for some off brand boots but ive worn 32, vans, dc, burton, and ride boots and they all stretch so unless you wanna be doubling- up on socks by the end of the season i would go a size down. Its gunna hurt the first couple trips but once there stretched you’ll have all the support you’ll need. If anyone needs any advice bout boarding just email me. Peace
Hi — I’m looking for brands that carry a women’s size 11. I’m a 10.5 in a normal shoe and the 2 pairs of size 11s that I have found to try on seem to run really small. Any guidance re: brands /styles to try?
DC boots run small…i just bought at 9 (which was a step up from the 8.5 i wear in burton’s) and it is cramped in the toe. looks like i will be taking them back once again to get a 9.5 which is wild…cheers.
I’m totally confused…
My feet are stupid I guess, but I wear a 7.5 in Sketchers, an 8.5 in Lugs, and an 7.5 – 9 in work boots..
I don’t have a ski shop within practical driving distance to fit boots, is there a compairable tennis shoe brand that I can use as reference?
I don’t want to ruin my 1st time boarding by having junky boots that dont fit good
Thanks,
J
Jason,
Don’t be so hard on yourself. Snowboard boot sizing isn’t all that tricky, but we’ll get you taken care of nevertheless. I’ll start by saying that whatever your everyday shoe size is (aka the shoes you wear the majority of the time) is the size you should go with. This should be the size of your snowboard boots as well. If you’re a 7.5 in your everyday shoes, but a 7.5 isn’t available, you can go up to an 8, but no more than that or it will be a sloppy fit. Basically if you’re in a half size, but a half size isn’t available in the boots you like, go to the next whole size and nothing more. Once you get them, the best thing to do is try them on around your house and get a feel for them. The worst that will happen is that you have to swap them out if they don’t fit the way you like.
I purchased a Burton boot for my daughter who is US size youth 1…I even bought a 2 just in case, and she cant even straighten her toes in them! They end up fotting my younger daughter perfect and she is a kids size 11 US!! That is hardly true to shoe size!!!!
Melissa,
I’m sorry you had some difficulty with sizing for your daughter. However, Burton snowboard boots do run true to shoe size. A common problem that parents have with snowboard boots is that it is difficult to judge where a child’s foot is positioned in the boot since it isn’t like a typical shoe. It’s hard to tell if the child is really cramped in the boot or if the foot is just curled up entirely and not even reaching the end. Likewise, a child struggles with snowboard boots because they don’t fit like a shoe. They are tight right off the bat and many children struggle getting into them. Obviously I don’t know for sure how the actual boot was fitting on her, but it is not common for a snowboard boot to run 4 sizes on the small side.
As far as the boots fitting your younger daughter perfectly, I’d be concerned that they are actually much too large and unsafe if she is using them. Certainly if you put a child’s size 11 foot into a kid’s size 2 boot it will slide right in, but the problem is that your younger is likely not getting the proper support from the boot, even if they are secured tightly at the cuff.
Again, I’m sorry for your troubles, but I wanted to let you know that your problems are not uncommon and you may want to give them another shot with your older daughter.
I was wondering about k2 boots. I am looking at the k2 Affair Condas and I normally wear a size 9.5 boots. I recently bought Vans that were a size 9 and fit great. The last k2s I had (a year ago) I got a size 10 and they packed out a little, so I thought to go with a 9.5 in k2s but I can only find 9 or 10. Which size do you recommend? Thanks
Candice,
If a 9 in a Vans boot fit well, then the 9 in the K2 should fit perfect. Remember, that ideal fit (especially in a higher performance boot like that) will be toes touching the end, not jammed. These may feel tight at first, but should pack out to the perfect fit. Every foot/boot is different of course, but I would say the 9 should work fine.
Jenna
Hi I’m looking into buying some forum aura boots. I’m just wondering what my snowboard boot size would be? I went snowboarding a couple of times and I tried burton ones and I was size 5.5. My regular shoe size runs from 6.5-7 (being on the looser end). Would size 5 boots be okay or should I go for size 6 forum aura boots?
Nicole,
Thanks for your inquiry! In my experience Forum boots have always fit a bit small and I have had to take at least a half size up from any other boot. You still need to ensure a tight and comfortable fit but going with the 6 would most likely be your best choice for the Aura.
Thanks,
Chris Gorski

Hi I wanted to buy the new K2 ryker boots I wear size 13 shoes my foot size is 29.2 cm, I rock a Rome bodega size 13, what size K2 should I get?
John,
Go with the same size in the K2. I wear K2’s and have found they fit like a glove and very close to shoe size so you’ll be fine with a 13. Good luck and have a great snowboarding season!
Thanks,
Chris Gorski
My 15 year old son wears a size 13 wide width shoe…do snowboard boots come in wide widths? He needs new boots next season…do you have any that might work for him?
Hey Julie,
Typically for wider boots K2 and Ride make the widest models naturally. Salomon actually makes boots in wide models (they will actually say wide in the name) but we do not have any in a size 13 currently. Taking a look at what we have available I think the K2 Haymaker is your best bet. The Haymaker provides some of the roomiest width you can get in a snowboard boot today.

Dru
Hello, sorry my english. I will buy a DC SCOUT 2011 BOOT but i dont know the size in USA , my foot size in cm(mondo point)26.6 and with socks is 27 cm.
9.5 USA size is the correct for me ? because the DC size i think is small size with the others (burton, vans)
Thanks
Hey Dino,
For a mondo point around 27, you would typically want to go with a US size 9.0. As you correctly surmised, the DC boots run a bit small, so the 9.5 should be perfect for you. Hope this helps!
Regards,
Dru
Hi,
Looking into buying some K2 boots. I previously had Thirty-Twos size 8 and they were a great fit. I kinda have a narrower foot so I was wondering if K2s generally run true to size?
Hey Brittin,
With K2 boots, the sizing is always true to shoe size. They do run a tad bit narrow, which is probably why you find they fit so comfortably. If you go with the K2 brand, knowing you have a narrow foot, you should definitely order true to your shoe size for the best fit. Hope this helps!

Dru
Hi
I looking at purchasing the Forum Fastplant boots, I wear size 11 UK shoe size. Would size 12 US be the best fit, as I have read that Forum boots are sometimes on the small side?
Hey Greg,
Yes, in the Forum boot you would want to go with the size 12 US. The Forum boots do run a bit snug, so the 12.0′s should fit you perfect. Hope this helps!
Regards,
Dru
hi
my currnt lamar boot is size 10 us , 43 eu . 9 uk and 27 cm
acording to the chart size 10 is not 27 cm but in my lamar it is , i want to buy the k2 raider what size should i take ?
Hey Noam,
As you mentioned your current boots are a European 43, I would suggest going with a size 10 in the K2 Raiders. I hope this helps!
Best,
Kate
I normally wear 6.5 to 7 sneakers. In 7, not touching the end but just barely. Should I go with size 7 Thirty Two brand?
Hey R,
32 as a brand is going to run a bit on the snug size. However this is done intentionally as all of their liners are completely heat moldable. My recommendation would be to go with the size 7.0, as it will fit snug at first. After you have had a chance to have them molded and broken in, they should fit like a dream. Hope this helps!
Regards,
Dru
I normally wear 6.5 to 7 US shoes. Should I go with size 6.5 Burton, DC o Vans boots? Is there any difference?
Hey Rossana,
Between the different brands, obviously you are going to get a different feel. This also occurs between models from different manufacturer’s, so while this isn’t going to be 100% accurate, I would recommend these sizings for each of the brands you listed:
Burton: 6.5
DC: 7.0
Vans: 6.5
While Burton and Vans do tend to fit very true to shoe size and usually provide ample room, DC has a tendency to run a bit more on the smaller side. Again this isn’t true for every model though and the best advice I can give you would be to try the boot you want to purchase on in person beforehand so you know exactly what to look for. I hope this helps!
Regards,
Dru
