Can you tell me how to measure? I have two daughters 12 and 14 who are about 5 feet tall. I see your sizing chart, but do you need to angle a tape measure, or do you just measure around the forehead and directly around the head?
    Thanks!
    Kim

    • Andrew Schaad says:

      Kim,

To measure the head for a helmet, there are simple steps that you can follow. First, if you have a cloth tape measure, this will be best to get the accurate size. If that is unavailable to you, you can also get a long piece of string and measure the circumference of the head, just above the eyebrow line. Make not of where the string overlaps and then use the tape measure that you have to measure the length.

I found that Bern helmets run a bit small. The XL does not fit me (too small) and I have a 60cm head. I currently have an XXL in the queue, which I hope will fit.

  3. Young says:

Hi there I’ve found put that some helmets are narrower than others, I have a wide head, therefore I was wondering if this helmet was wide? Maybe the same or more than the smith or giro helmets?

    • Dru says:

      Hey Young,

For snow helmets, the widest brands you can look to are typically Bern and Smith, with Smith being the widest. That being said, neither one will fit a wider head perfectly right out of the box. It may fit a bit snug for the first five or six times you use it. After that it should break in properly, giving you the fit you are looking for!

      Regards,
      Dru
